What the IHSCDEA is all about
. . .
The Illinois High School & College Driver Education
Education Association is a professional teaching organization that was
established in 1952. We are composed primarily of high school and college
driver education instructors, supervisors, coordinators and safety
enthusiasts throughout Illinois. We have over 700 members & represent over
600 public high schools in Illinois.
Since our inception in the early Fifties, the IHSCDEA
has a group of distinguished individuals recognized for their commitment and
dedication to Illinois driver education and traffic safety. These
individuals have been recognized by their peers and inducted into the
IHSCDEA Hall of Fame.
Association also recognizes individual instructors throughout the state as
outstanding educators in our discipline. The purpose of this award is to
give recognition to driver and traffic safety education teachers who
exemplify the highest standards of their profession; and who, through their
influence past and present, on the lives of the young people under their
direction have made significant contributions to their school and
community's traffic safety.
Our Three Guiding Principles
To improve and upgrade the teaching by
high school and college instructors of traffic safety and driver
education in the high schools and colleges of Illinois.
To promote research which attempts to
solve problems associated with traffic safety and publish the
information for use in high school and college driver education programs
by high school and college instructors.
To cooperate with other agencies which are
concerned with traffic safety and driver education in the high schools
and colleges of Illinois
